She is best known for her roles as Zia Rodriguez in the 2018 film Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and Sophie Devereaux on the television series The Vampire Diaries and its spin-off The Originals. In 2015, Pineda was cast in the role of Ruby Simms in American Odyssey, which ran for a single season on the NBC network. She is currently starring in the TBS sitcom The Detour.
